Great hotkey program–Autohotkey

I found this through PC Mag about a year ago, and have been using it ever since. Autohotkey is free, and does several great things, which I illustrate here:
Dexter–best show on TV

I actually started watching this accidentally, I’d never heard of the show. But my hot wife and I are both hooked now. At first, I thought it was going to be just another cop drama, and Dexter is a cop, but the situation is unlike anything you could dream up. (more…)

Some pictures, showing John’s versatility. And he hit the team’s only home run this year. The team ended up in 2nd place. (more…)

The Devil in the White City, by Erik Larson
Posted on July 22, 2009 - Filed Under Family | 1 Comment
The full name of this book is: “The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America.” It’s quite a mouthful, and it covers an equally complex topic. (more…)
Finger Lickin’ 15, by Janet Evanovitch (audio version)

Janet’s books are pretty predictable, not that you can solve the mystery easily, but the interaction between Steph and Ranger, for example, is always the same. And way too much of it. But Lula is always unpredictable and she was laugh out loud in this one. (more…)
Defiance–great movie

I thought it would be just about battling in the woods, but this was a great epic. And I learned a little history. It stars Daniel Craig (the new James Bond), and he played a great part. Even without M and Miss Woodpenny.
It’s about a group of Jews that hides from the Nazis during WWII, and it eventually becomes a small army. Which is a good trick, with the women and children involved.
Pretty long, but it’ll hold your interest. And a family can watch it–no sex or nudity, but definitely lots of violence (Can I hear a hell, yes?).

I went with my landlady, Monyra, and one of her Vietnamese friends, Winnie. The atmosphere is very appealing, they cook the food at your table, and they’re very friendly. Loved it, especially the bulgogi. Except for the waitress spilling hot tea in my lap, it was perfect. The dinner prices are a little high, but I think the personal touch (no, not the tea in my lap), made it worth it.
It did get a little bizarro when I asked for some ice to soothe the back of my hand, which took the brunt of the scalding, when the waiter immediately brought over 3 knives.
That’s a picture of Monyra on the left, in her younger days with the ballet in her home country, Cambodia.

Megan couldn’t go this year, and in addition, we decided to visit Baltimore, as well as DC. So, Kayela, Jordan, Mason, John, and Ethan (John’s friend) came up on Amtrak Wed. night. I met them via the Metro, and we stayed at my rental bedroom for the first two nights. (more…)
